John Glele made his World Cup debut for Benin in their qualifying game at home against Sudan on Sunday and it was a winning debut, as Benin went on to win 1-0.
Benin Head Coach, Michel Dussuyer, played the 23-year-old defender from the start in this vital World Cup game. Benin has very little margin for error as they find themselves in a difficult group which includes Ghana and Mali.
Benin travel to Mali on 21 June where John Glele will be hoping to lock horns with Mali’s key man, Frederic Kanoute.
John Glele started his career with Belfort and later had spells with Sochaux, Guingamp and Amiens going through the different youth age groups through to the Reserves and later with the first teams. In 2008 he signed for APEP playing in the Cyprus First Division.
