Muharem Bajrami’s hopes of reaching the third round of the UEFA Champions’ League ended after his team Renova were knocked out by Omonia.
Renova received a crushing blow as early as the sixth minute of the first leg in Nicosia when Darko Ignjatovski was sent off for a professional foul. That made the task of the Cypriot champions much easier and they took full advantage with a 3-0 win.
Despite a valiant effort by Renova, Omonia go through to the next round.
Macedonian international Bajrami played in both games. The loss means that the Macedonian Champions will have to turn their focus on their league campaign and win the title once again if they want to have another go at the Champions’ League in 2011.
