John Glele has started the 2008-2009 season with a bang. Having missed the first few games due to suspension carried over from last season, he quickly started to make up for lost time scoring two goals in two games.
As a defender, goals are not something which is expected of him. He makes his living stopping his opponents from scoring, but his ability to score goals in the air from set pieces will be welcomed by the APEP fans.
His first goal of the season came in the 1-1 draw away against Ermis in the first leg of their cup tie.
Five days later, in Glele’s first league appearance of the season, APEP found themselves 2-0 down at half time away to Ethnikos. In the second half, Glele pulled APEP back into the game with a headed goal at the front post from a corner. Attila Szili completed the comeback a few minutes later bringing APEP back on level terms and earning a precious away point.
It is AEL next for APEP in the League.
